NinjaTrader trading journal: syncing your futures trades

NinjaTrader Brokerage, Tradovate, a prop firm or another broker: there are two ways to get your futures trades into your journal without exporting.

Futures traders have a specific problem: fees, contracts and per-point multipliers make manual tracking painful and error-prone. One NQ contract isn't worth one ES contract, and a micro isn't worth a mini. Better to let the platform send the exact numbers.

Case 1: NinjaTrader Brokerage, Tradovate and prop firms running on Tradovate

This is the easiest case. NinjaTrader Brokerage and Tradovate are actually the same account behind the scenes, and many futures prop firms (such as Apex or Topstep) run on Tradovate. Connecting takes one click from Settings: you sign in through your platform's own window, nothing to install, no API key to buy. Sync then runs on our servers every hour.

Case 2: the NinjaTrader platform with another broker

If your NinjaTrader account is held by another broker, you install an AddOn: a small file to import into NinjaTrader, where you paste your sync token. Every closed trade is then sent to your journal within a second.

What we read, and what we never do

The connection reads your filled orders and your balance. It never places an order. Your credentials are encrypted.

Why it matters even more for prop firms

During a challenge, a single day of revenge trading can hit the maximum daily loss and wipe out weeks of work. With your trades synced, your discipline score and alerts follow your day in near real time, not the day after.

Automatic sync is included in the Plus and Premium plans. Connect your account.
